Christmas time is all about families and a pet always enhances the warmth and joy during the festive period. However some pets do not have homes to go to and the kind people at places such as at Jerry Green’s Dogs Rescue help them out. Now they are looking for donations to make the pets have a better Christmas 2014.
- Jerry Green Dog Rescue has five centres across the country and are funded entirely by the public’s generous donations,
- For Christmas 2014, Jerry’s staff are running a special shoebox appeal looking to get toys for their pets still in their care,
- Cash donations and of course adoptions are still needed.
When it gets to this time of year many appeals turn to finding food for needy families, however sometimes family pets are missed out as finances become even further stretched. The number of abandoned pets generally rises and with this the pressure on dogs homes across the country rises. This is why Jerry Green Dog Rescue has relaunched its annual shoebox appeal to make sure that dogs housed in their centres are looked after over Christmas.
With five centres across the country including ones in Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, Jerry Green’s looks after hundreds of dogs and believe that each one of them can find a caring home out there. Receiving no Lottery or state funding, Jerry Green’s centres are funded entirely by the generosity of the public – so all donations are essential in order to meet the costs of running the centres.
This Christmas at Jerry Green’s. not only are cash donations welcome – which you can do by using the links on this page. (or by sending a cheque marked Christmas Appeal) – but Jerry’s want to put together some special shoeboxes for their dogs with a variety of different toys to keep the animals entertained. The charity are looking for rawhide chews, rope toys, bones, tennis balls, squeaky toys or anything else that you think a dog would love – its all up to you.
If you think about the standard Christmas shoebox appeals, they’re always geared to humans, but animals need the love to at this time of year and by helping out a dog at Jerry’s you could be making their Christmas.
